Welcome!
My name is Ellie Safer, and I am the founder of Hearted. I am a current junior at the University of Tennessee Knoxville double majoring in Biology of Global Health and English Literature with a minor in Public Health. I have career goals of eventually earning my PhD in Public Health Policy or Epidemiology, going into health policy advocacy or infectious disease research. My greatest passions lie in all things health and wellness, and I am so excited to launch this new initiative that targets issues near and dear to my heart.
The Story
I created Hearted as a new initiative that targets both physical (heart health) and mental (loving others) health simultaneously. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death today worldwide, and the best defense against heart disease is adhering in health behaviors early in life. By working with college students and children, I created Hearted to give young people the tools to build a healthy life. Additionally, in the midst of a difficult and divided world, I created the mental health component of our mission to promote more love and empathy in our everday lives.
